The brand design for Wichita Startup Week is a vivid illustration of thinking beyond the boundaries. Wichita, known primarily for its agricultural and manufacturing landscape, deserved something more urban and unconventional. This led to the creation of a "larger than life" brand ethos, achieved through a west-coast design style. Bright shades of orange, green, and pink, infused with dynamic gradients and high contrast typography, set the stage for an unforgettable visual experience.
With the rallying cry of "Your time is now!" Wichita Startup Week isn't just an event—it's a call to action. This dynamic phrase resonated through the high contrast black and white design elements, evoking a sense of urgency and empowerment. The event hashtag, #wichitawins, adorned in a multicolor gradient, symbolized the warmth, energy, and excitement that encapsulates Wichita's entrepreneurial triumphs.
Crafting an event that caters to businesses at varying stages required thoughtful and responsive design. I tackled this by assigning different primary colors and unique layout elements to each track. For example, the hackathon graphic, designed to fit the Startup Week style, embodied a developer-inspired twist with typography mimicking code moving vertically across a computer screen. This not only injected creativity but also streamlined attendees' navigation, helping them connect with relevant events.
